We started World Book Day Week off in Reception by watching a story time with Julia Donaldson. Julia read her story Tiddler, and the children listened carefully and giggled away, demonstrating their engagement and understanding.

The children then watched Axel Scheffler show them how he drew Tiddler and the under the sea illustrations. 

We talked about Julia Donaldson being the author of the story and Axel Scheffler being the illustrator. The children said how their 'helicopter stories' were like them being an author.
